On April the 18th, 2018, the Experimental School of SMS received three honorable guests——Nathan, Sarah and Mark, who are teachers

from Trans-Pacific Student Exchange, Texas, the US.

At 10:10 a.m., Nathan, Sarah and Mark walked into three different classrooms of Class 6, Grade 7,Class 2 and Class 13 in Grade 8,

meeting and talking with the students. They made an introduction of the life of middle school student in Dallas, Texas and the

courses in the Summer Camp there. Then, the students asked plenty of questions about education, culture and lifestyle in the

US as well as answered the questions from the American teachers. Besides, they shared their ideas on different international

issues. This class meant a lot to the students. By communicating with American teachers, the students opened their horizons

and learnt to see the world from an international view, which helped them to understand different cultures better and think

globally.

After that, the three teachers attended an English course for grade 7 students. The course was about saving wild animals, which

stroke a chord between teachers and students from the two countries. The American teachers were impressed by the order and

control of Chinese students, and agreed that American and Chinese students could learn from each other to improve the

education in both countries.

In addition, the American teachers visited the Saint George’s School at ESSMS and communicated with teachers there. They

spoke highly of the English level of teachers in ESSMS, and appreciated the international horizon and ability of independent

thinking of the students here.

This visit was quite meaningful for both the American teachers and teachers and students from the Experimental School of

SMS. It built a bridge of understanding and communication between the two sides, which made a contribution to the

education for international understanding that the Experimental School of SMS has been devoting to.
