Step 1

Revision

1. Show the picture of school rules. Review different school rules. The teacher can ask students: What are the school rules? What can you say to the students? Have students say review what the rules are and how to talk about the rules.

重现规则以及谈论规则的目标语言,复习、巩固。

Step 2

First Listening (2a)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Make students look at the picture and read the instruction as well as the chart in 2a. Then ask them questions to get them be well-prepared for the listening task.

1) Who are they? (They are Alan and Cindy.)

2) Where are they? (Outside of the classroom. )

   (Present and teach the new word outside)

3) What might(可能) they talk about?

   They might talk about the activities / school rules.

Then let students read the activities aloud, help students understand the new word  wear by show a picture.

2. The teacher play the recording, students work on 2a:Listen check () the activities Alan and Cindy talk about. After that check the answer.

Step 3

Second Listening (2b, 2c)

1. Guide students to predict (推测) before listeningCan they do these activities?

   Have students make predictions and share their ideas like this: I think I think they can listen to music in music room.

2. The teacher play the recording, students work on 2b. Check the answer by asking and answering questions:

-- Can they ...?

-- Yes, they can. They can ...

   /No, they can't.  They can't ...

3. Help students to summarize listening tips : With the help of the instructions, picture, chart and common sense, we can make make our predictions more correct.

4. Work on 2c, talk about the rules in 2a.

A: Can we listen to music, Cindy?

B: We can't ... or ..., but we can ... or...

A: Can we eat in the classroom?

B: No, we can't. We have to / must ...

A: Can we wear a hat?

B: No, we can't ... and we can't ... either.

...

5 Guide Ss to listen to the conversation again and try to imitate,and pay attention to stress, tone, liaison. Then role play the conversation.

 

1. 进行听力策略指导,如根据图片,文字和常识进行推测,有效降低听力难度。

2. 引导学生关注目标语言并在特定语境中发现、感知目标语言的使用。

3. 引导学生通过模仿,关注语音语调,体会说话人的态度和情感。

 

Step 4

Reading

and integrating

(2d)

1.Draw students attention on their school rules. And ask them : Do you know our school rules well? Show students some pictures about rules at school and school rules with blanks, guide them to fill in the blanks with "can't / must / have to" according to(根据) their school rules. The teacher can introduce the new words to make sure students understand the sentences. After checking the answer lead students to read the rules aloud.

2. Guide students to read the conversation between John and Alice and answer the questions.

1) What are they talking about?

They are talking about the school rules.

2) Does John know the school rules? Why?

No. Because it's his first day at school.  (He is a new student.)

3. Make students read the dialogue and fill in the chart.

4. Play the recording for students to listen and imitate.

5. Give chances to students so they can make their own dialogue with what theyve learned in these two periods.

6. Guide students to think about why John wants to know about the rules. Encourage students to share their ideas with classmates.Then they can come to the conclusion: Knowing the rules in a new place can help us get used to(适应) the life better! And it is important for us to know the rules and keep the rules.

(1). Memorize the new words, phrases and sentence patterns.

(2) Listen to, imitate and recite the dialogue in 2d.

(3) Period 2 in Students Learning Plans.
